TESTIMONIALS / WHO SELECTS WHAT WE SEE?

The selected praise.
The wider conversation.

Majestic View chooses which accounts appear on its own website. Independent reviews, forums and Tumblr let people speak outside that selection. Both praise and criticism belong here, with their source and relationship to the kennel made clear.

FEATURED FORUM REVIEW

MaineiacJay

The writer owns an NAID from another breeder and describes correspondence with Markel, observations of the kennel’s website, and experiences shared by other owners.2

…i do own a NAID and i love him to death. but i do not recommend the breed and do not, by any means, recommend the founding breeder, Majestic View Kennels…

most of these owners who contacted me were ones that had their concerns and doubts about Majestic View and wanted to share their experiences with their own dogs, some of which were out of control. these were people that needed help because the dog they got was not the dog Majestic View described. below is some information on Majestic View and the problems with her kennel.

TUMBLR / OUTSIDE THE BREEDER’S SELECTION

naturepunk’s discussion.

The writer disputes the breed’s origin narrative and alleges that the name conceals wolfdog breeding.7

NATUREPUNK / THE AUTHOR’S ALLEGATIONS
“If by NAID you mean "wolfdog mutts created by an unethical breeder who wanted to avoid prosecution for keeping illegal animals on her property by 'creating' a new breed and slapping a higher price tag on them" then yes - these are NAIDs. If you by NAID you mean a breed of dog kept by Native American peoples prior to white settlement - then no, these are not NAIDs.”

Reported problems.
Reported good experiences.

CRITICAL · JANUARY 2016

Purchaser15

Reports an affected puppy and a decision to continue care despite alleged euthanasia advice.

“I am one client who purchased a "healthy" puppy but after our first wellness check, our puppy has a heart defect. We have kept the breeder in the loop since day one and after a final diagnosis and screening by a specialist, the breeder tells me I'm not using my brain since we have decided to keep our puppy verses destroy him (as she suggested last month)… As for our dog, we will take care of him and keep him with our family.”
CRITICAL · MAY 2016

Bonobo12

Reports hip dysplasia at six months and an offer of replacement conditional on euthanasia. Describes visiting the kennel.

“I guess it depends on when you got your puppy from here, but I can definitely speak for MVK nowadays in that she can't keep up with all those dogs, she doesn't know how to handle them (was shaking a broom threatening to beat a few of them when we did a tour), and she gives out false information to her buyers. She told me no health problems ever in her lines, then my puppy got hip dysplasia at 6 months old. When I complained to her, she said she'd give me a new dog if I euthanized that one. No thanks, I wouldn't kill a baby with a disease n favor of getting a "better" one, so why would I with this pup we bonded to?”
FAVORABLE · JUNE 2022

Gunny Y

Reports generally good health, positive family relationships and two dogs living beyond fifteen. Identifies one SID and one NAID.

I see complaints of them being "escape artists". Mine were as well. We dealt with that. They are intelligent and resourceful. Tucker (the SID) figured how to open doors and gates. Augustus (the NAID) would dig or climb out. That is a training issue, not a breeder issue. We learned to deal with it and have great anecdotes detailing our lives with our "kids". They would "patrol" our fence every morning, chasing out buzzards, squirrels, etc... .

Bottom line is, you pays yer nickle, youse takes yer chances.

I recommend this breed and this kennel if you are looking for a beautiful, friendly, and loyal friend that you are willing to spend time with and whose company you can enjoy.

FAVORABLE · NOVEMBER 2022

Kat and Azula

Describes an April 2022 visit, an outgoing puppy and a favorable experience with the breeder.

I know this is a complaint board, and like Denise above,I feel led to just offer the opposite experience, just for balance. I went to the kennel in April of '22, met Karen, saw the dogs, met the parents, and got an amazing outgoing friendly puppy at 8 weeks old. Her dogs were healthy and given huge outdoor runs. I went in am met some of them, and they were friendly to me a stranger. I had combed over her website pictures many times, and they were as pictured.

… I just wanted to say that so far my experience with Karen and her gorgeous dogs has been great. I would always recommend meeting the parents and choosing your pup in person if at all possible.
